Got an aircraft scene to animate here.
I've parented my camera to a null that moves with the aircraft. So that I can do small "dolly-like" moves inside that null, and not have to worry about the massive distances being covered.
This works somewhat like a moving platform if you will.
This works great, except that when that platform has been rotated, the camera orbit and dolly controls act really weird (alt-leftclick, alt-rightclick, alt-middleclick).
Like, left-click-alt, instead of orbiting around the Y axis, is orbitting around mostly around the X axis. (and only weakly around Y).
I suspect this is a form of gimbal lock... and it's making the process almost impossible.
I've been reading up on quaternions, euler filters, etc etc.
But what I need, is for my camera to move inside that parent group normally, and to have the orbit/dolly controls to act normal, and not worry about where they are in relation to the world.
Is this possible?
