Hey all,
Ive been modelling things in maya for quite a while now, but ive only recently gotten into animation. So far things have been going ok, but ive just built a model (im rendering sprites to use in a little game im making) and ive been having a few problems with the skin binding to place that it shouldnt bind to, aswell as a couple of little other things.
Well, the model i built is a robot kind of thing (anyone familiar with an old game called One Must fall: 2097 would recognise it as the Shadow robot) and its basically a human-shaped robot.
Now, when i bind the skin to the model (ive tried rigid bind and smooth bind, each have the same problem) and i try to move, say, the shoulder joint, a part of the torso a part of the shoulder above get 'caught' and rotate with the arm. sorry if that doesnt make sense, ill post up some pics of what i mean.
My other problem is that for example when i move the elbow, because the arms are cylinders, they get thinner as the joint is bent more (again, sorry if that doesnt make sense)
So what id like to know is if there is a setting or way to stop the parts of the model getting 'caught' with other parts of the model. Ill post up some pics a bit later so you guys can see my problems.
Thanks in advance for any help. Just remember im a bit of a noob to the whole animation thing lol
