Its very difficult in maya to make a picture frame or a cornice always the 4rth corner is giving problem when you extrude a profile along a curve. Its very easy in max i dont know why there is no tutorial or simple way to make a frame with a profile in maya. Can someone help me with this
It should work if your path curves endings doesnt join at the edges but in the middle of a side. Means tangent continuity should be given. And for drawn smooth and closed curves you really should "close" them by using "Edit Curves->Open/Close Curves".
Tough you get better results by not using extrude but rather offset and loft (effort is the same, result is not; also applies to max). Or in the case of a square frame skew and loft but thats a special case.
See this happens when i extrude a profile along a square rectangle its closed this happens i dont want the 4rth corner to be messy like this i want all 4 sides to be like the other 3 sides opening closing curve doesnt help
