3d In Photoshop

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to get that special 3d effect in photoshop!
I have seen all these sci-fi cities made, with starting out as blocks, do they draw every face? is there a plug in? Here is an example

i do virtualrides and its the same concept its all to do with your brushing skills and when and where you put your colours and the hardness on the brush .

hi..., the example that uve given here has all been painted, ofcourse good painting skill is required to make scenes appear as 3d. but remember, not all of them are like this, at times people do use outside elements, images, 3d renders to work furtner in photoshop. good examples are matte paintings, they can even be all painted, or in most cases, images, photographs, 3d renders are used in them, which give u good 3d depth. they are mostly mixture of everything. lastly, good painting skills are most important to have, no matter what your procedure is.

PS CS4 has the option of combining a set of pictures into a sort of 360 degree view.
Comes with photoshop so it should be right there in your photoshop.
