I've just tried Maya 8.5's mia_physicalsun/sky shader. It works really well but I've just textured a car that needs to look like its part of a HDR image on an image plane. The problem is when I render the image in MR, the car looks really good but the image plane is very dull, therefore it looks v unconvincing. I've tried the ff but they haven't made any difference:
a) using a regular plane, not an image plane
adjusting the 'haze' setting
c) playing with just about every attribute setting on the image plane
