Anoying System Ring With Hotbox In Maya

Hi,

Besides pulling out the switch from your motherboard, is there a way to turn off the damn ring which happens when you release the hotbox by releasing the space button in maya while holding down the mouse button? I am sure you guys know of what I speak
I am affraid "xset b off" won't cut it too.. setterm -blength 0 won't do it either since it doesn't work in X. Anyone?

Ok, try this. Open maya, hold space to open your hotbox, and then hold down your left mouse button over some menu (as if you wanted to open it), and then _while holding down the mouse button_ release the space button, and you'll hear your computer speaker (down in your motherboard) say "beep". The thing is, you will find out that you often do hold down your mouse button still when working even after you've released the hotbox space button and - its anoying .

Yes. There's a little cable that connects the chassis speaker to your motherboard. Having this pulled out solved all the problems

i wish there were a more elegant solution, but people don't seem to be using hotbox with maya on linux too much, which is wierd
