Move objects back to original position

Hello,

I have six objects positioned at where they should be. However I want to move them away and after a certain number of frames have passed they should return to their positions. I could do this by hand but using MEL for this would be more efficiënt. 
My objects are at the right position at frame 1. If I move them away, to frame 20, is it possible to get the position from frame 1 to animate them back to their original position?

Yep, you want to do a keyframe query. Here's an example:

print(keyframe -t 1 -vc 1 -q "myObject.translate");

Then you'd use a setKeyframe command to make a new key.
