Hi,
I suposse this is an eassy one for the developpers,
I have a set of objects (empty groups) and I added a custom attribute with the same name (lets say my\_att) to all of them. Now, I want to use the attribute sptreadsheet to edit the value of my\_att in some or all of my empty groups at the same time. So I select the objects (groups with the my\_att custom attribute) that I want to edit and open up the attribute spread sheet. The spread sheet is only showing me and letting me edit the value of the last object of the selection list for my\_attr.

Some sugestions, someone, please.

Thankyou.

Since you're posting in the MEL Forum I won't go into any details about the Attribute Spreadsheet.....

global proc setMyAtt( int $myAtt ) // Assuming attribute is an int
{
 string $select[] = `ls -sl`;

for ( $item in $select )
 {
 if ( `attributeQuery -exists "my\_att"` )
 setAttr ( $item + ".my\_att" ) $myAtt;
 }
}

Now to set the attribute(s) to a value of 42, select one or more of your objects and:

setMyAtt( 42 );

Not being able to edit "Extra Attributes" in the Attribute Spreadsheet is a real problem. Hand-coding MEL scripts every time you need to change multiple attributes isn't really an acceptable alternative. The same problem occurs when attributes are created from the API.

Did you find a solution to this?

I'm looking for a solution from the API side and I'll post again here with any progress.

cheers
Jock
