Is it possible to make a copy of an object's bounding box as separate geometry?

I don't believe there's any existing automatic tool to do that. but it sounds like a pretty easy thing to write a MEL script for.

As a starter, Maya keeps an objects bounding box as attributes on that object. Such as: pCube1.boundingBoxMinX

Hope this helps.

yeah just instance abod under the dagpath ans set the corners for values of the box. But you can mere easily wiev them by setting drawing overrides to bb!
