I have an animation that i did in maya and I have it in sequential targa files that look nice individually. I have rendered out the animation in after effects using pretty much every compressor that would except my resolution, but it always looks bad. Even the hardware render(playblast) looks clearer than most of them. So far I have gotten the best results with quicktime, but it still is pretty weak. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions. P.S. my computer couldnt play through the uncrompressed render smoothly and I would like to avoid having to tell everyone to play it through and then hit zero if possible.

Thanks in advance

bigsteve

I have been doing Targa sequences from Maya and Avi's with Cinepek look good. I can't get a decent QT that isnt huge.
You may have a problem with your hardware, not the actual movie.

hmmm, don't know how versed you are in After Effects but have you set your comp on best setting, in the render window? i get some really nice results using Divix, again 640x480 should be your maxiumum resolution when using any codec thats going to play of a computer anything higher you run into bitrates most computers can't handle..try the divix codec and see if that helps ...if u need more info let me know.
