Maya + Radeon Mobility 9000(?)

Does anyone have any thoughts or incite they could share on the possibility of running Maya on a Radeon Mobility 9000? From what I understand, the chip is very close to being the same as the desktop variant. I know that it has more than enough power to wiz through any of the more basic maya functions, but I don't know a thing about the robustness of its OpenGL driver.

Any kind of response would be much appreciated, even if you are only sharing experiences with the mobile radeon 7500 or the desktop radeon 9000. Thanks very much.

I have exactly the same questions. I have heard great things about the 9000 being a desktop replacement but no one has confirmed with Maya. There must be someone out there with some insight. I even found some great deals from compaq and dell with the 9000.

yeah im running the 9000pro and maya doesnt seem 2 like it, it doesnt show anything in the viewports it could just b a me problem, but yeah im a bit gutted that the card doenst work with maya coz thats what i bought it for

I am running the Mobility 9000 on a Dell 8200 notebook, I am very happy with the proformance, however, I am a new Maya user and can't really push the card. I would love to run a benchmark and share the results. One problem I have is I am running Maya PLE which means I can only run a PLE benchmark (ie. I can't load standard fiiles).

yeah just in response to that guy that can't see anything in the viewports u wouldn't happen to be running maya 4.0 early edition cos i am and i have the exact same problem that i can't view the vertices in nstandard mode when they have the 0's,1's and2's

for me radeon M9000 seems to work fine, the opengl performance is very fast. I use it for two months. With the latest Dell drivers its quite good in 3D sculpt and paint tools too...

but brobably you have to install the latest driver and video Bios update.

an interesting issue: in sculpt surfaces tool its working very fine until you open an other opengl window like render view or hypershade, but after there is a very slight delay in 3D tumble and the brush track, but its much less in the newer driver, so its only a little driver issue, which hopefully will be fixed in the next driver. this is the only problem I experienced...

I just can give a statement for the mobility fire gl 9000 in my compaq N800w - so called "mobile workstation" is not performing well. Even though, it is made for professional 3d work.

I saw a simple laptop with radeon 9000 performing excellent. But I would recommend to keep away from the fire gl 9000! To expensive for what it is.
