Constraint to camera

Hello there,

I want to constraint an object (a light) to the camera. But when I apply the position constraint, the object is always constrained to the camera's interest.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to constraint an object to the camera?

What version of 3D are you using? I just tried it in 3.8 SP2 and 3.9.22 and it worked both times. (I tried Point, Infinite and Spot lights) You're sure that you are position constraining the light to the camera not the interest?

And yes I am absolutely sure that I position constraint the light the camera, not the interest. I tried in viewports and in the schematic view, with the same results.

Works fine for me too. However, you might try using a schematic view.
Any chance your camera has been made unselectible?

Like I said in my previous reply, I tried doing the constraint in the schematic view too, with no success!

BTW, how can you make an object unselectible?

This is a legacy bug dating back to v3.5. I forget the cause (setup file?), but in a nutshell, there's some data that's introduced that you cannot get rid of until you start a fresh scene in a fresh session of SI3D.

To constrain a light to the camera, apply an expression to the light's explicit translation parameters. It will have the same effect as a constraint. Plus, if you need other lights to do the same, you can copy the expression without having to retype them all.

Thanks a lot, Matt. It works fine with an expression!

On similar topic, does someone know what to do to be able to write down any character when typing an expression?

I mean, couple of months ago, I wanted to write an expression to make a cylinder rotate realisticly when rolling on the ground, but one of the needed characters was not available on my keyboard (Canadian ISO English/French), and I was not able to copy/paste that character in the Softimage dialog box. I tried many keyboard settings (all the English and French ones) with no results.
