Delete file through mel

I'm probably close, but I'm not getting any feedback on why this doesn't work...[windows 2000]

You are using a system call and windoes uses as directory delimiter not /.

I think you might need to double up the backslashes since you are in quotes...

system ("del C:m4imagestest.30.iff");

Thats because maya is a unix program and it converts internal path / to for windows...

But system command on the otherhand sends a direct command to windows hence no coversion is being transmitted... How would maya know what kind of syntax the external comand takes in?

System is exactly like typing in command prompt, same syntax applies.
