A bit off topic for XSI, but this is my home so hope you folks can help, I am after a really nice hi-res unwrapped earth map for projecting onto a sphere (obviously!) I have collected quite a few over the years but never a really good photographic one that looks good close up.
I have seen some really nice ones in movies recently and have a project that I need one for now, If anyone has such an image or knows where to get one, please post!

Cheers, Nick

Try this link:

There are huge maps of Earth. They were taken by NASA, and are more mathematically accurate than photorealistic.

However, making a realistic Earth is not an easy task, it requires also good lighting and effects settings. The link I gave you contains a tutorial to achieve a good image, but is intended for 3ds max.

Hope this helps
