Extract Movie Files To Stills With Mplayer

Hi there!

I've just made the switch from windows to linux and I want to convert some movie files (avi's, .mov's, mpeg's etc) to a series of still frames, so that I can work with them in shake. From some other posts and general googling mplayer(mencoder) seems to be the best choice to do this. Which is all great, I've got it installed and running, but I'm having difficulty figuring out the correct syntax to do the conversion. There is plenty of info on how encode stills to an avi or avi to other formats but nothing on how to go the other way. Does any one now how to do this?

Don't worry I figured it out as soon as I posted. (Typical)
Just incase anyone else has the sam problem the syntax is-
mplayer infile.avi -vf format=bgr15 -vo tga

I have use that too, but tga format takes alot of hard drive space
