This may sound stupid but I'm a poor student who wants to be able to do my assignments other than at school or at home. I'm planning to take a short vacation away from it all & didin't want to fall too far behind on work so since I can't quite afford a new laptop, I'm gonna at least try & see if I can get this one to work. It's a PIII 650MHz with 256MB RAM & a Savage IX 8MB (4MB shared). Yes, the video ram is very small but I was able to run Maya on a friend's laptop which was the same specs except it had a 4MB Intel graphics chipset. My test was this: A house model weighing about 100,000 faces. I open it on my laptop & it just dies when I try to rotate. On my friend's laptop, it just cruised right through; rotating, zooming, & using 4-view. I was even able to tweak it out. Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that the Savage IX does have OpenGL support but somehow I'm starting to doubt that (or maybe mine's just messed up). I remember a while back, I tried to run Vue 'd Esprit on my laptop & it kept crashing but once I stopped using OpenGL, it worked. Same with 3DSMAX. So, I updated my drivers & have been looking for some GPU tweak programs to help me out. I dunno if it'll work but it's a cheap solution. So, if any of you might know of a program that I can use to fix this problem let me know (along with any other approach to fixing this problem). Thanks in advance for your help
