Fed up with SOFTIMAGE

Hi All,
Turns out that I am the crap teacher in carlisle, England. Just wanted to mention a couple of things:
1/ Softimage support has been very good to our institution. We have no complaints on that front. They have even offered us further support in the future.
2/ Softimage / Tyrell (we are in England and they are the dealer we work with) sent not one but two expert trainers up to show the students around XSI 1.5. I was pleased to see that ob1 was one of the students who took advantage of this event. Further training sessions will be scheduled.
3/ Softimage / Tyrell set up free training sessions in London to enable lowly people like myself to learn some advanced tricks.
On a personnal note:
URP, your responses have been have been very good and I would like to thank you for the advice you gave our student. I hope that the student takes them to heart and responds accordingly.
My lecture notes average about 20 A4 pages per 3hr class and are fairly detailed. They are available in PDF form and if anyone was interested in reviewing them and pointing out the error of my ways, I would be more than happy to do so.
As for the aeroplane assignment coming so early:
All the techniques taught to create a teapot -
Surfaces of revolution, Skinning, Blending, U/V Curve alignment so fillets join correctly are the basics you need to create a plane. We even made the old coke cans for the sake of trimming nurb surfaces for the ring pull opening.
It was our test to see how much the students have taken in after 5 weeks of classes. (not just 1 session.)
So far the resultant planes have been pretty good.
Guess you can only please some of the people, some of the time.

Don't get offended by my posts max its nothing personal, i know you put alot of work into softimage and you only want the best for us, by reading my first e-mail you can see i was a bit stressed.
I still stand by my argument about the teapot, it did'nt even work at the end? then getting a brief to model a highly detailed plane, yes you can apply the method but what about technique.
yes we have had 5 other lessons but that was our only real modeling lesson, alot of people did ok but i stuggled and spent all of time trying to create decent shapes using different tools i just think a few more indepth modeling lessons would have made it easier for me.
I teach myself softimage in my spare time so i'm not a slacker.
Softimage might well have a good relationship with the college but they did not answer our e-mails and that is what i was talking about.
What about guest lecturers? why cant the college get anyone envolved in 3d to visit?
maybe your right max, maybe you can please everyone else and can't please me, maybe i ask to much.
my views have got me into trouble lately but they are risks i'm willing to take, i think students should be able to have a say and not be branded trouble makers or made to look stupid in a lesson because the teachers are offened and want to show everyone how wrong they are.
I do enjoy our softimage lessons and look forward to the rest,
if i am a bit slow then fair enough but if everyones a bit slow then something's up. but it's probably just me.
so the buck stops here max, i have read and taken onboard everthing urp and the other posts have said and i have a new attitude and its exactly what i needed, i get knowhere complaining and i just make enemies on my way and thats just the way i am, i say things when i should'nt so i will keep my thoughts concerning college to myself.

If you mean this, you have an attitude that sets you ahead of a LOT of people. Don't lose that. The ability to learn new things, and take all views into account even if they don't align with your own ideas is a priceless trait.

I agree with Raferacks, This Ob1 guy is a decent person, from the sounds of it. His heart, at least, is there. He obviously wants to succeed in 3D and only wants to learn. The sad fact is that most colleges will have problems with both administration and course specifics, and these can only be ironed out with time. Its just a shame that Ob1 might have graduated before any changes take effect.

The best way to learn is an internship. I learned more when I was an intern in two months than I did in two years at school.

Is this the same school that's currently advertising for a Softimage tutor in the jobs forum? If so, you have no right to complain - myself and a few of my friends all replied to your want ad only to get zero replies (not even so much as an acknowledgement that you received our CV's). We are all certified instructors with several years experience in production and are willing to make the trip. If you want help, you have to do your part, you can't just lock yourself up in a cubbyhole and expect the world to read your mind.

Hold fire speye_21, firstly, I have painted a bad picture of my college in this forum, something I did because of being fustrated with myself and softimage, I realise I have been a bit selfish and said things i shouldn't; i do enjoy my course and my college and we have great facilities.
everyone explodes every now and again.
My college and tutors do care and do reply to every single job enquiry, I have talked to my tutors and they are puzzled like I am.
How many of you applied, how did you apply? via e-mail or via snail mail? Maybe there was some sort of error? we would like to hear from you so please can you send me a private e-mail with these details, I will pass them on to my tutors and they WILL contact you.
