Performance degradation on Xeon dual node

Hello,

I'm running a render with Maya 4.5 on dual Xeon 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RDRAM,
Intel 860, FSB 400 MHz, Redhat 7.2. The test needs less than 500 MB
on 1 processor. When I run 1 job I get good performances. When I run
2 jobs (each using 1 processor) I see more than 30 % degradation on
performance for each job ... I do not see this degradation with some
other case. I would like to know if somebody else has seen this and
found out the reason and/or fixes for this degradation ?

15-30% efficiency loss is normal for a dual-cpu Intel-based solution.

30% seems a bit high on the high side when you factor in Linux OS, considdering that it is more efficient at multi-threading/symetric multiprocessing than Windoze...........
