I've found that the best way to get photon maps to work on a render farm is to tell Softimage to save the photon map out in a central location on your network. Make sure that the drive letter for that network location is mapped the same on every pc. Example: n:photonmapsmyphotonmap (Or something like that) Since Softimage is going to look in n:photonmaps every time you try to render that scene, it should render fine. This will also save you from having to copy all of your photon maps to different machines.
