can i only do it through mapping, or can i assign it through a right click context sensitive menu>i.e. , assign material to selection as with nurbs and polys?
i looked in the PDF files, online, etc. and for the record, i have 7.0, so not having to upgrade quite yet because i'm still finishing models, i need the info for this version. please, no teasing if 8.0 or 8.5 can do the right click thing.
i'm converting the baboon models at my sight c000be
[second button on the first row of links, says NURBS models] and they do translate nicely on just a 0,1 display level using the convert/modify>nurbs>subDs straight.
i cannot really get the hang of texturing the hand, which i'm trying to convert first, and to do the modifying, i need to see if the texture works properly.
so far, i've just thought that i should probably modify nurbs>polys, lowest count possible for these complicated models, do some basic shaping with the vertices using the nurbs model [in reference mode on it's own layer], attach the hand parts together, modify that attached poly model part>subD, and refine the new subD piece again.
still, i've got to texture this.. any directions to links, info would be great, and thank you.
