Yes another post on MR lite fluids, but now we're in 6.5 and MR...
So I've been doing some tests, I can get you up to speed here's what I did:
Take the smoke/puffball.ma file and at a good frame am doing tests to see how much control you have over the fluid useing "real lights" on, and for testing purposes change the resolution to 3x3x3.
Now add a directional light. test in with Maya render, no swtich to MR.
What I've found is in MR it gives the same lighting every time, no matter the direction of the light. I added a color to the light and that added color to the fluid, but not in a directional way, if you change the Shading>color to center gradient you will notice that the color was only ramping in b/c the color was mnaped to the Y gradient.
Here's the kicker, the light works if you change the surface to surface render>hard Surface you can see the lighting work just as you'd expect. If you change it to soft surface it's doesn't render anything, black frame.
The transparency works but turning it fully opaque doesn't help with lighting.
Also under the lighting tab the shadow opacity doesn't work in MR.
I've also tried to turn on ray tracing, no change and some different MR settings
I'm sending this whole thing as a bug report unless someone show me the error of my ways. So anyone have any insites? (Other than "yep it doesn't work," Ha!)
(I'm using Maya 6.5, Mac version G5 dual 2.0 3 gigs ram)
