Getting Per Pixel Based Color Values From An Image

hi

i want to create a particle grid, and color them per particle basis according to X, Y color coordinates of a supplied image. now my prob is how can get each an every pixel's RGB values, in a way Maya can be executed....is there a way MEL can be done that... or how can i be achieve that?...

any ur comments will be highly appreciated...

please try and search the highend forums before you post as this has come up several times before.

also, if you simply open the MEL commands reference and type "color" in the search box you'll find something called colorAtPoint which sounds like it maybe relevent..?

but basically to do what you want is very simple, so take a look at the colorAtPoint command and see if you're still stuck after that.
