you are right i need to learn the basics, learning it now, i think after i learn the basics i will be ready for this UI tutorial

yeah the Jeremy Ernst tutorials are incredible, but ithink they require basic knowledge of how python works learning from the bottom atm, so happy learning how it works alot better now, i will try to resolve the problem later, but first i must learn this the basics

just a question do you know how to make a tooptip for when you hover over a button like this

i took your advice and started from a hello worl window UI to being able to make a search and replace window
atm i have a docked window and would like to have something tell the user how to use the tool

i found this is the command i need to use not sure how use it though

It's easy to create something like that through the shelve-editor, you'll find toolTip as a text label you can put in. Through scripting I think you'd be looking for the annotation(ann) flag, it's available on most ui-controls.

What seems to be going wrong is you've created your namespaces Bob, Jack and Jane. These namespaces now 'live' in your scene, apparently. But your script is asking wether there's an object associated with the namespace. I haven't used the namespace editor much, since I only use namespaces on Importing and Referencing, but you can assign objects to a namespace by clicking 'Bob' in your namespaceEditor, then selecting your null in your viewport, and you click 'Add Selected' in the namespaceEditor.

As far as I can tell from the screenshot your nulls are named Bobnull, Jacknull,... but if they had the namespace assigned, they should be called Bob:Bobnull, Jack:Jacknull. When I try it this way, it works on my end, and it should for you!
