Cut And Paste Mel

Hi All,

Seems that when I cut and paste MEL, I often get // Error: Syntax error //. Seems to be related to the quote symbol: ". On a script I was working with today, I went in and replaced the quote symbols, and the script worked, no syntax error. Yet it was the identical script apparently.

The interpreter of mel is surely quite strict concerning special characters and spaces. If you have strings with spaces inside you will HAVE TO use "quotation marks". Special words like float and string won't work as simple string as well if they are not surrounded by ".

The problem is that sometimes quotation marks pasted from the web aren't the generic quote marks you get when you type "Shift + ' ", they are the fancy ones that are part of a font set. As mentioned, I've had both Flash and Maya choke on them when pasting code.

Called typographers quotes. Highend by the way pukes if you try to paste those into it by the way One can find and replace them quite quickly into normal straight double quotes. Unicode is a b*

Yes was the typographer's quote. Search and replace works.
