You can't, well really you wouldn't want to. The Shape node is the mesh data for the object. so if you delete it you're just left with a transform, and if you just want just a transform then create an empty group. confused? =)

Select shape node in hypergraph or outliner and hit 'delete'. The empty transform node will still be there.

thanks your reply, but I want to write a Mel script to delete some node. Example I smooth a polygon object and want to use mel to delete it's smooth node, how can I do it? Thx

iterate the shapes? how do you obtain the data with ls?

if so you can use ls -sl -dag -et mesh; (no nurbs particle or bone shapes need to list shapes are needed).

then just chek if it is connected to a smooth downstream (upstream the other is connected to smooth)

listConnections -s 1 -d 0 pCubeShape1; Altough this isnt foolproof as there might be other nodes in between too...

edity

better solution could be to attack this the other way around and list all smooths and the se if they end up in your shape?
