I already posted this at cgsociety, but I thought I'd give it a go here as well:
I have been trying to setup jEdit to work with MEL and have encountered a whole list of issues when trying to install the numerous plugins. Here are the plug ins I am trying to use:
- jEdit Maya Editor Plugin 1.7.0
- jedit mel Syntax Highlighting Mode 9.0.0
- jEdit Maya Code Browser 1.0.0
- MelTextAutoComplete for jedit 4.3.0
Here are the problems I am having:
I got the Maya Editor to send stuff directly to Maya and I set up a split Buffer view for jEdit so I can also see the ouput of Maya's script editor. The problem is that whenever I do anything in Maya and switch back to jEdit I get a "dirty buffer" error and eventually jEdit crashes. Even if I only keep sending the buffer at some point jEdit always enters an infinite loop until I CTRL+ALT+DEL it.
This plugIn actually works with no problems. Hooray for Highlighting!
Maya Code Browser, I really don't get this. I installed the Exuberant Ctags, but the code browser never displays anything. I'm also slightly confused as to where to put the ctags.cnf. The install notes says to put it to the jedit top level directory, wherever that is supposed to be. Also my file doesn't have the .cnf suffix which according to the install notes it oughta have.
This is a fun one, too: The help files don't load, except for a nice error message. The plug-in options gives me an error whenever I make any changes and anything I start from Plugins->MelTextAutoComplete gives me a BeanShell error (whatever that is). When I use CTRL+B the autoComplete window pops up, but if I'm not mistaken this window is supposed to pop up automatically.
If it's any help I am running Windows XP and using jEdit 4.3pre14.
