ok. This looks heated, This should be fun.
About the quote above, I think it said, 'anything that can be done in maya can be done in any other 3d package'
If you have the time to use each of those different packages for each seperate part of your animation and then comp it all together then fine, do it. And don't come back to this forum, we don't wanna hear it.
About the quote 'whine.. I have to pay extra for render licenses'
If your really doing the big enough jobs to need a ton of render power, you have the budget for it, otherwise you don't and don't need it. A one month project will cost say, conservatively, 60000 between three animators, for the work alone, then render costs are added on to pay for the render hardware and licenses. If your not quoting it now then you need to start. That's how a lot of post makes their profit. If you don't have the capital to invest to sign a big job, no worry- you can use the render farm resources which so frequently show themselves every year at AWGUA and quote it in and STILL make a profit off of it. The customer doesn't even have to know your sending it out of house to render. Just make sure it gets done.
Maya is expensive-- -whine whine
has anyone else noticed the over 70 percent price drop over the past two years. Or is it just me.
Quit bitching people, It's a great package and if you don't like it, then don't use it. I'm happy though and I will continue to use my full suite of tools without ever having to need to buy a plug in to do what I want. And now, I am going to quit whining about the whiners. hipocrit, i know i know.
That was fun.
