Hi,
I used Maya cloth to make a flag, create wind field, assign wind to flag, create a NURBS flag pole. Used vertex of flag to create constraint to the flag pole. When animation play, the flag still flag away from the pole.
Did I do something wrong here? I already assign cloth constraint to the NURBS pole already.
Please help. Thank you.

I think it is a transform constraint you need here. You can constrain select vertices in the cloth to a locator or something and that will make the cloth stay put as it should.

Hi,
Last week I've created flag ![](http://www.highend3d.com/boards/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif).My techique:
1)Create nurbs square,
2)Select Cloth\>create garment
3)Change resolution to 100 in the chanell box.
4)Create cylinder, position it near your flag.
5)Select left side vertices of garment then select cylinder.
6)Select Cloth\>constraints\>transform constraint
7)Create air field (wind).Set magnitute to 75 or 100, select vertices of your clouth excepting vertices which are assigned to cylinder, constraint them to the air field.
8)Position your field near the begining of your flag and cylinder.
9)Choose show manipulator tool, chnge the wind direction,
set direction keys in frame 0,
10)Go to frame 25(PAL) and change direction again, set key.
11)Continue with keys.
12)Playback animation, enjoy your flag ![](http://www.highend3d.com/boards/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif)

ok so whenever i try a cloth flag using the steps above, the damn thing balls up into a jumbled mess connected to the pole.. any ideas?

You probably need to adjust the solver scale to something relative to you flag. In the tutorial provided by AW it says that at a solver scale of 10 your "character" should be 160 cm's tall. The dynamics involved with cloth require attention to this relationship to scale.

How did you assign the wind field to your flag? Don't have the cloth object selected when you create the field or the whole object will be assigned. Create the field, then go to the cloth, select the vertices you want to re-act to the field, then ctrl-select the field, choose field constraint. A simple mesh constraint will work for attaching to the pole.
