# Maya Hangs

A couple more issues I'm having is with Maya hanging. It hangs 3 times regularly for about 30sec. which i find really annoying-

1. when i first open the material editor
2. after using setting/preferences/preferences
3. after using animation&nbsp;preferences

if there's any way to fix or&nbsp;minimize the hang time?

Looks like a fileIO problem. Did you set up Maya or your user account (and hence MAYA\_APP\_DIR ) on a slow network drive?
