Motion Blur + Ae 6.5 + Macintel

Oi!
Here are the specs:
MACINTOSH
2 x 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
AE 6.5
OS 10.4.9
QT 7.1.6
9 GIGS ram

Here's the problem:
I'm moving text or an image left to right. Motion blur is enabled for the layer & composition. The shutter is cranked to 720 to make it most obvious and phase is 0. Yet in my ram preview & render there is no motion blur visible.

Any thoughts? I've already deleted my prefs.

OpenGL

I had OpenGL selected. When I switched to Advanced 3D motion blur came back. I was having this issue on my IntelMac and G5 Powerbook.
