Render Hidden Line

Does someone knows how to render hidden lines, and if so, tell me how?

1. On your rendering setup page select GL hardware Rendering as your rendering type.
2. Select Options. This will bring up a dialog similar to your shading setup for a viewport.
3. Select Show Icons/Hidden Line.

Thanks Urp, it works.... BUT,

There is a slight problem: It seems that you can't render images that are larger than your screen resolution. When I hit Render Sequence, a waring says that the image is too large for screen, and no file is created. Is there a way to overcome this?

Not that I know of. It is using the screen buffer, so it limit will be the screen size. However, you might try the anti-aliasing option, if you only need the lines sharpened.

The anti-aliasing options does, well, anti-aliasing!
Since this rendering is intended to be imported into Illustrator as a template, I guess my colleague will have to make it with low res file!

Hy Bernard,

render a wireframe hiddenline. output format is vector-based (.lin) and its resolution-independent. Then you can use the Tools/Lin/ShowFile to convert it to a bitmap.

Hope your collegues will appreciate this...

Thanks a lot specter for your feedback.

Maybe it's me, but when rendering in Wireframe mode, and then when I convert the .lin file to a bitmap file, I can only get a full wireframe image. As I said, I want an Hidden Line image.

I think I checked every possible setting. The only way I found so far to generate a bitmap file of a Hidden Line wireframe is with what Urp said previously.
I tried what you said, the Tools > Line > Show File, and it gives me a full wireframe image.

I tried the various standalone applications, like lin2pic and lin2eps. The lin2pic gives full wireframe image, and the pic2eps does not work, no matter what (we tried Photoshop and many Illustrator versions, on Mac and PC, and never been able to open the generated eps file).

So your help is really appreciated guys, and I'll appreciate too any other idea.

On Rendering Type Select "Hiddlen Line Faceted or Smooth". Facet is similar to shaded view hidden line. Smooth removes the internal edges.
