Seek advice in doing specialFX & image composition

Hi there~
I've created a few short animations with soft, and then now I wanna composite them together with adding some specialFX. any software are good? What about after effect and maya fusion? does they good, or any other better? I know shake is good for this job, but I don't have $ to buy it~

Adobe Premier or After Effects should be adequate. Of course you get what you pay for, and some turn key solutions can run $100K to $500K or even more.
AfterEffects reads Soft .pic files directly, and is much better with compositing and Special Effects than Premier. Premier is more of a general purpose editor. There are other products of course, so pretty much what ever you have will probably be adequate, if you are only intending to make a demo tape.

but, what's the properties of maya fusion? and what this software can do but other can't?

Maya Fusion should work fine. As for specific features in each product, that is too difficult to describe in a post. It is not really what features a product have that is important, but how well they work or are integrated. It might be easier if you ask specifically what features you need.
