Is there a script out there that reads the value of a grayscale texture mapped to a polygon and select faces based on it's value? Example: I have a black texture with small white areas, I want to select the faces that the white areas are mapped to.

Thanks,

I don't know of anything that does this out there. If I had to do it myself I would bake the map into vert colors and then write a script that selects verts based of of that vert color value. Then convert selection to faces.

That sounds like a good idea but since I'm a bit new to scripting with polygons I don't know how to do that. I'll look into it.

Thanks,

I think artisan and paint selection tool specificaly can do this quite simply. but doesent work on procedurals so you need to convert themm to soleids first!
