Shake On Linux And Plug-ins

Hey guys,

Here is an outline of the issues regarding Shake 4.1 and any plug-ins we want to use.

We are currently running Shake 4.1 on Linux

Most of the plug-ins we are using or want use are compiled for Shake 3.5.

Using the 3.5 compiled plug-ins do work, but will produce an error message upon launching Shake regarding a missing library. This library file has since been removed from 4.1, causing the error message that considers any rendering jobs as failed on our render farm.

What we need to find out is if there is a tool to re-compile any Shake 3.5 plug-ins for 4.*.

Sure, pending you have the source code, just recompile the plugins with the newest SDK on the apple developer site. If you don't have the source then your SOL.

This is what our tech tells me:

"For the case of that Nrmpg plugin, this is whats missing;

error: libnrzl_lx.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It is included in Shake 3.5."

So what does it all mean?

Any help greatly appreciated!

It means that you shouldn't be using plugins compiled for a different version of the software because things are greatly changed in the api and become incompatible.

This is why applications like Maya make it so your plugins won't even run in newer versions.
