Sharpening Stabilized Footage

Hi, when I stabilized the gate weave in some 2K footage recently, the plate got softened slightly (looks like a 0.3 gaussian blur or so). Does anyone have a good recipe for sharpening the plate to look like it did before the stabilization. Adding the original gate weave is not an option in this particualr case.

any reason you don't simply use the sharpen node?

Try changing the filter on the stabilize node. The default adds a little too much blur in my opinion.

The Lanczos filter, on the stabilize node, will give you the least softening but will be slower at rendering.
I usually work with the default filter and switch to lanczos for the final render.
If you use the SMSH plugins, from Shakeplugins.com, you can use Search / Replace in the node view to change your filter settings for all of the Stabilize nodes in one go.

Hey thanks everyone. It didn't occur to me to change the filter. deepstructure, normal sharpening does funny things to grain it seems to me.
