i just bought a render-farm box with cruddy motherboard-integrated GeForce2-MX graphics.
however what really made me realise my workstation was a dinosaur: its 3Dlabs VX1 (lol) gets 2fps on a viewport spin with a texured, lit, 20,000 polygon plane. the Geforce2 gets 20+ fps. (10 times faster!!!)
and the VX1 crashes occasionally when doing heavy viewport spins or opening the color picker, the GF2 seems rock solid. i think the VX1 crashes cause its 3 yrs old, possibly component degredation due to heat etc, i've had the same drivers for ages and it never used to do that.
still, time to bin that VX1...
