I hope you guys can help because not even my teachers can figure it out.
I have a scene where I have a soft body falling off of a plane (If you want to know about the project, I'm trying to create a water drop fall off a leaf.). Before the soft body falls off the plane, I want it to deform into the shape of a water drop and hang on the edge for a second. What I have so far is the goal for the soft body pushing the body to the edge and holding it over the side, I have spring connected from one of the softbody particles to a vert on the edge of the plane which is keyframed so it's strength goes from 0 to 10k (overkill I'm sure) right as the softbody falls off. Everything works exactly how I want it to, except for the spring has a rest length I cannot get rid of (on other words, the water drop isn't connected to the leaf if you hide the spring).
The rest length on the spring is at 0 and rest length per spring is off. I read somewhere that you can put the rest length to -1...but that doesn't seem to work (as in the number keeps going back to 0). I have tried to create a hidden object above the plane to try to offset the length, but it doesn't look like the softbody is connected to the plane. I have thought that maybe a few hidden objects with springs connecting the same particle, but I wanted to if there was an easier way first.
Thank you guys!
PS: this is my first time posting on these forums. I'm a student at the Art Institute of California at San Diego, I've got 2 quarters left, and I'm focusing on cg technical (special effects and rigging). Call me Stan if you want.
Maybe I don't understand your project very well.if you just want your softbody to hold on the side you can get rid of the effect of the spring at a appropriate time.as for the effect of the spring, you must adjust the siffness,Damping, even the particles itself such as conserve to get the best result. also you can consider the rest length,If you set a value smaller than the length of the spring, the spring contracts when playing, and if lager the spring expands:)
