Something Similar To A Hair Follicle....?

ok, i do not have maya unlimited, but i want to know if there is anything similar to using hair follicles in maya complete...?
i have a helmet with some chin straps hanging and want them to sway when the character moves.

without maya unlimited, what would my options be to have these things dynamically swing?

softbody? jiggle?

i'm sure you knew this was coming...but....

...how is that set up w/ rigid bodies? i can't seem to figure out how to adjust the weights/influence of the strap. meaning, it bends and flops more at the bottom of the strap, etc....

any advice?

You dont you make many small segmnets taht are linked and then let those segments dirve the strap. You really dont have ANY finer controll over things, its kind of the point of getting unlimitted and its n-systems.

YAR! ok, i've been trying to get these things to link, but am not having much luck. is there a specific constraint i need to use on these.....? i am not getting the results i am expecting.
