Storing precalculated value into a node for reuse in compute()

Hi,

i'm writting a custom node and wanted to know, what is the correct way of storing large amount of precalculated data for particular node instance for later reuse in subsequent computes?

some of the inputs won't change ofthen, but out of those particular inputs i want to calculate and cache some data that would drastically improve compute() when faster-changing inputs trigger recalculation.

don't need a whole tutorial, but just a few pointers where to look for more info would be really nice.

Correct is not defined. It depends on wether or not you want to save these in the maya file or recompute them in future. You can store the values as you like really. The only thing maya cares about is the output.

Basically you want a interdiction of thsi type in compute:

if output changed is relevant
check wether or not input heavy calculation needed is dirty
(dirty means its changed so you dont need to chek for this)
read cached compute, either mallocced by you or stored in a maya container
write output, cleaqn output
