What-difference is oxygen and wildcat

i want to run maya in a win-NT-2k computer
i dont know what is the different on
=Oxygen GVX210/
=wildcat-- oxygen-card and wildcat card, ????
what is the different on them, i want to buy 1
can anyone can tell me

Pricetag and features mostly. The Oxygen GVX210 is rather antiquated. You can pick up a FireGL 8700 that'd be faster, cheaper and more reliable.

As for Wildcat's unless you're using a lot of 2048x2048 sized textures and viewing them like that all the time, you're really not gonna see much in the way of benefits from it.

Perhaps looks at the Wildcat VP card as well it seems pretty solid.

I have an older Oxygen card (GMX 2000) and it worked awesome in 3d for me. The only down side I had with that card it is has no Direct X support so any Windows DirectX apps/games didn't run. If you can afford it then get one of those great 3dlabs cards. Otherwise there are some cheaper cards that do pretty well too.

Like theartist said, if you're gonna get one might as well be a Wildcat VP. The drivers are still maturing though and still stuff like playing DVD's doesn't agree well with'em (never did with most of their other cards either). General rule of thumb, if you go with 3dlabs, have an Intel motherboard. Best way to avoid most problems with'em.
