Transferring license to a dongle?

Do you have your documentation nearby by any chance, specifically the Installation and Licensing guide ?

my gut feeling is that I'll have to cut/paste the text from the second 'half' of the email body and save it as a specially named file in directory on the hard drive. But hell, I'm basically guessing at the moment. At the top of the email it says "Please refer to the Installation and Licensing guide included with the
software kit for detailed information about installing this license"... but unfortunately, my doucments are about 80 miles away at the moment.

I'm pretty sure that what you received in the email is incomplete otherwise there would be a line that begins which the word FEATURE as below. When they say encrypted they are referring to the part that comes after word "uncounted".

To install the license manually (Windows)
Go to the email, fax, or mail you received, and type or copy the license string. It looks like the following:
FEATURE MayaUnltd sgiawd 5.000 20-may-2003 uncounted 70F9BD1AC42F HOSTID=FLEXID=7-b285e673

Please check if there is an aw.dat file located within the C:FLEXLM directory.
If there is, paste or type the license into the top of the aw.dat file and save it.

If there is no file or directory there, create the C:FLEXLM directory.
Open Notepad (Start > Programs > Accessories > Notepad) and copy the license string into the new document.
Save the file from Notepad as aw.dat within the C:FLEXLM directory.

There you go copy and paste that into your license file as the direction detail.. you will need to delete the previous entry that refers to your ethernet card if it is there.

There is also a license install utility in you start/All programs/aliaswavefront/commonutilities menu

I didn't even look in the common utilities folder of the start menu. but yeah there it is. sheeesh. Still though, based on the email I had from Alias, I really wasn't sure what the license string actually was, since the aw.dat file didn't exist on the notebook yet.

No problem.. I'm an old hand at their methods for license installation..it hasn't changed.. there have been worse ones like having to translate a huge string of mangled characters from a fax for Flint licences.. sheesh.. email was new fangled then I guess.
