I doubt your age has anything to do with it. If you come from a classical style (commercials or features) and have already made the jump to 3d and it shows in your work, they will be very eager to hire you. The only problem I can foresee is not having worked with 'game engines' & the technicality's of that could be a hindrance on projects where there is no time to ramp up. But those things can be learned easily enough, if you have the time Im pretty sure you'll get something.

Hi,
I'm considering applying to games companies in the UK for 3d animator jobs, however I am a 40+ female and wonder whether I would be outside their "person profile". I would prefer to work on permanent jobs or long contracts (assuming there are any jobs at all!!). Just wondering whether I would be wasting my time applying. I've spoken to an agent at a games agency and they were non-commital about this. I have good skills as I have retrained to use Maya after working as a classical animator for years. Would be interested in any views. Thanks.
