I currently am working for a small gaming studio, and we're looking into purchasing a motion capture system, but the system we're considering only outputs into Motion Builder. Before we can really consider purchasing both packages, I was wondering if you all could provide me with some more information and things to consider in relation to pipelines.
Specifically, I've seen in a few posts that SDK's aren't supported in MB. What other limitations does MB have that should be considered when setting up a skeleton in Maya? If we currently have auto-rigging software, is it difficult to make it compatible with MB's characterization parameters? Are there any tutorials/information about importing between maya and mb?
Finally, if I do setup a character in Maya with all the bells and whistles of SDK's (say for hands and facial expressions) and such, can I put that character into MB, apply mo-capped data onto the rig for the main motion, and import back into maya to then add the facial anim? Or would all that setup info be lost in translation? Thanks!
