I'm farely new to using skeletons and IK joints. I think I have working IK joints with my legs, but I'm struggling to put the correct skeleto structure in for my arm to function as I intend in IK. I have tried various ways, but can't seem to get it all working properly, so if someone can help, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Maya 2015 on a windows.
First off, here's a screenshot of my character, and one of the arms (I'm wanting to IK both, but from what I understand, I can just mirror my joints).
Here's an exploded view of the joints in my arm. If it works better, I think that I'm happy to remodel the arm joints to hide the parts that would otherwise not be seen, but if I can avoid this, that would be best. The pivot points for all the arm joints are the center of the circular part.
What I am wanting to be able to do is to be able to rotate the shoulder joint, elbow joint, and hand all in th Z axis, and the two arm segments in the x axis (all around their pivot points). Here's my hypergraph of all my polygon structures, and what I already have with the skeleton.
