You probably need to specify more correctly what you are looking for, and what your final aim is.
From what I can gather, you want to keep the fallOff connected to the object-normals, which makes sense. But you want to have it controlled by something else than the Camera? The nature of how the samplerInfo node and object-normals work is they will always need some form of a camera to be calculated-against. So you can't really get rid of the camera from the equation.
However, you can always build the simple node network with the samplerInfo.facingRation going into your ramp.Vdirection, piping the color into your shader.outColor, and add on top of this. So you could pipe other stuff into the colorGain on the ramp to get different effects.
I guess the question boils down to.. what is the 'something else' you want to control your ramp with?
