17" LCD Flat Panel For XSI Work

I've done some research on all flat panels. It seems that the Apple Studio Display(17"-1280x1024) is ideal for graphic professionals. It can be used on a pc with a Dr. Bott's DViator adaptor. Does anyone have any experience with this monitor? Are there any problem(s) with the Apple Studio Display on a PC?

apple's crap are wayyyy over priced. the panel of the apple display are built by samsung, who makes GREAT LCDs, so you might as well as get a samsung LCD for a cheaper price.

Can anyone recommend a GOOD BUDGETED LCD for 3D Animaton work? What I mean a good lcd is it has good color fidelity, wide color gamut, good brightness and contrast, and good overall brightness uniformity on the screen.

I myself is using a Samsung Syncmaster 171S LCD and is very happy with it

If you ask me, forget LCD displays for 3D graphics. LCDs are great for office work (text is sharper) but they are a catastrophy (for me) when it comes to photos (color accuracy).

Graphics and photos simply look pretty unnaturally, especially human skin... And their colors/contrast change with angle.

As for me, I'd go CTR again, and I certainly will for another 4-5 years.

Don't forget: for the price of a 17 inch LCD, you can buy a 21 inch tube monitor.

So think again and compare them: put CRT and LCD side by side and display some high quality photos. You should see the difference.

I hate to keep saying it, but , hell...someone has to. If you want some sci-fi looking machine on your desk, get a macintosh with that monitor, otherwise you gain absolutely nothing by going with anything from apple. It's the old mythology that lives on...it's time that people see it for what it is- a last gasp from a failing company which has to recruit idiots like rush limburger to pitch their garbage. It's like a basketball player pitching the newest sneakers---they arent actually better than any other sneakers, they are simply endorsed by the pro player. How's a mac lcd screen superior to any other lcd display? It isn't...you got brainwashed by the name; maybe even saw an ibook on a sitcom and thought, "hey, so-and-so is using a mac..they MUST be the best."

Like I said, these high-profile pitch men for macintosh couldnt tell you the difference between mac and macaroni if you asked them...all they could say is they got paid to endorse a product. Color is color, GHz is GHz, and you get the drift. Only thing a mac has over a PC is a more colorful case.

well... nobody said mac's LCDz are superior... and as I've said.. samsung makes their panels. personally, I think Eizo makes the best LCDz but they are just too damn expensive... (still cheaper than apple's stuff)
