3d And 2d Animation In After Effects

How can I go about making a 2d/3d anime in AE?

(I've posted something similar in the maya forum. I've tried importing Jpeg, PNG, Mov animations into maya in hopes that I could perserve the alpha. I'm just about to give up...)

I need to know a couple things though...

How would you go about (Or where are the tutorials to)

once your footage is on the timeline, click the 3dLayer switch on the layer (the cube), you may have to expand the layer switches panel. this will allow you to manipulate your layers in 3d space, by creating a camera and lights you have the full 3d environment. you can set your viewer to '4 views' for the familiar top, left, front, persp views.
