Yeah today I've been getting a lot of crashes while trying to paint on some complicated machinery. I have one solid piece of geometry that was created by combining several polygons using the "combine" option (nothing is parented). All history has been deleted and 3 shaders with 3 textures at 1024x1024 are being used on the object. Maya in general rarely crashes on me. These painting tools (artisan/paint fx) just seem to be a little sporadic and inconsistent on my system. I have a 32mb quadro mx card with over a gig of RAM. (256mb for aperture size )
