Anyone have intelligence on what's the best way to run Shake on the latest generation 8 core machines? According to the Apple site you have to disable 4 of the cores in the GUI for best results under Leopard but it will use all 8 under Tiger. Only thing is that Tiger doesn't install on the newest 8 cores. We heard 10.4.7 would work but don't have confirmation.
I know rendering from the command line 1 cpu at a time is most efficent but I'd like to be able to use all 8 cores in the GUI--some of my comps get very complicated; usually working at 2k+ and float/log space under deadline.
Thanks...
