ok. in softimage 4.2 i think i changed a setting in the interface where as when i create a new object i would be able to goto the camera view,right,top, or front and still have the property editor on. it wont let me do that now. and when i create the object and close the property editor i cant give it more subdivisions,height,etc...and its really frustrating the hell out of me.

Check your preferences, there is an option to change the dialog/property page pop up. Yours has been unchecked. Turn it back on and you'll be back to normal.
